Pierce Scott
Pierce Scott is a seasoned data engineer and the Co-Founder and Chief Operating Officer of Highland Analytics, where he brings a wealth of expertise in transforming data into actionable insights. With an undergraduate degree in Computational Statistics and Data Science from Weber State University and a master’s in Data Analytics from Western Governors University, Pierce has successfully led major initiatives in both academic and professional settings.
At RC Willey, Pierce played a key role in the company’s transition from a legacy system to a modern ERP platform, automating critical processes across finance, inventory, sales, and accounting. He continues to work closely with the executive strategic planning team, helping make critical data-driven decisions to keep RC Willey at the forefront of the retail industry.
Pierce also serves as an adjunct professor in the Computer Science department at Weber State University, where he is passionate about teaching the next generation of data professionals.
At Highland Analytics, Pierce’s mission is to leverage this expertise to help businesses, both big and small, harness the power of their data. With extensive experience in building data pipelines, Pierce ensures companies can access the insights they need to make quick, informed decisions that drive success. His goal is to elevate companies by ensuring they can leverage their data to reach new heights.
Outside of work, Pierce is a proud husband and father. He enjoys staying active through football, basketball, pickleball, and hiking Utah’s beautiful trails.
Scott Smalley
Scott Smalley is the Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of Highland Analytics, bringing years of experience in software engineering and data architecture. A graduate of Utah Valley University with a Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Scott is a highly skilled engineer who has been instrumental in leading RC Willey’s transition to a modern data infrastructure.
As the lead architect behind many of RC Willey’s critical projects, including its entire pay structure, Scott works closely with the CFO and controller to ensure that the company's financial and operational data was automated, secure, and optimized for decision-making. Starting his career at RC Willey as a cashier, Scott’s journey to becoming a key player in the company’s technological evolution speaks to his dedication and expertise.
At Highland Analytics, Scott applies that same level of dedication and meticulous attention to detail. Known for his quiet yet confident demeanor, Scott has a unique ability to anticipate questions and craft innovative solutions that others might overlook, making him a trusted expert for clients.
When he’s not architecting data solutions, Scott enjoys spending time with his family and playing video games.
